Call for Workshop Proposals

Overview

IEEE AIoT 2026 invites proposals for the Workshops Program of the IEEE Annual Congress on Artificial Intelligence of Things. Workshops provide an effective forum for attendees with common research interests and create useful community-building opportunities. Workshops may vary in program length, size, and format, depending on their objectives and expected participants.

Like other IEEE AIoT 2026 tracks, workshops are expected to be organized as in-person events in Kobe, Japan. We solicit workshop proposals on topics relevant to the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Internet of Things (IoT) systems, including both technical foundations and practical deployments.

Workshop Scope

Workshops can enrich the conference in different ways, including but not limited to the following formats:

• Workshops that provide a forum to share advances in a focused area of special interest to the AIoT community. These workshops may solicit original research contributions and conduct a peer-review process.
• Workshops that gather researchers, practitioners, and students for focused activities, such as hands-on prototyping, benchmark design, reproducibility studies, standards discussion, or cross-disciplinary research agenda building.
• Open workshops where registered conference participants can attend without submitting papers, with emphasis on discussion, panels, demonstrations, posters, position papers, or interactive sessions.

Workshop organizers are encouraged to use lightweight review processes where appropriate. Workshops should not be designed only as mini-conferences. While individual presentations are welcome, proposals with substantial discussion time, interactive activities, and clear community engagement are strongly encouraged.

Indicative Topics

• AI-enabled sensing, perception, reasoning, and actuation for IoT systems
• Edge intelligence, TinyML, federated learning, and distributed AI for IoT
• AIoT system architecture, middleware, platforms, and digital twins
• Trustworthy AIoT, including security, privacy, safety, reliability, and explainability
• Autonomous IoT, robotics, smart mobility, smart city, smart energy, and smart manufacturing
• Foundation models, generative AI, and agentic systems for IoT and cyber-physical systems
• Data management, stream analytics, benchmarking, evaluation, and reproducibility for AIoT
• Industrial AIoT applications, standards, testbeds, and real-world deployment experience

Proposal Content Requirements

Proposals should be prepared as documents of no more than four pages, including references, following the IEEE two-column conference template. The proposal must describe:

• The workshop topic, rationale, objectives, and expected contribution to IEEE AIoT 2026
• The backgrounds, affiliations, and roles of the workshop organizers
• Expected attendance, target community, and whether participation will be limited
• A detailed workshop implementation plan, including format, schedule, review process, publicity plan, and expected outcomes
• Any special requirements, such as demonstration space, hands-on equipment, online submission system, or publication plan

The proposal must include a text-based Call for Papers or Call for Participation as an appendix. This appendix is not counted in the four-page limit.

Selection Criteria

A jury appointed by the Workshop Chairs will review proposals based on the following factors:

• Potential to generate stimulating discussions and useful results
• Expected interest level within the AIoT community
• Relevance and timeliness of the proposed topic
• Demonstrated organization, planning, and feasibility
• Quality and balance of the organizing team
• Feasibility of planned activities and review process
• Overall balance of topics in the IEEE AIoT 2026 Workshops Program

All workshop proposals should be submitted electronically by email to the Workshop Chairs. The email subject should be: “IEEE AIoT 2026 Workshop Proposal - [Workshop Title]”.
