The concept of Ubiquitous IoT spans multiple operational domains, including Space, Air, Ground, and Sea, each presenting distinct opportunities and challenges for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into modern Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures and Operational Technology (OT) environments. These interconnected domains enable transformative applications across critical sectors, such as energy, transportation, defence, manufacturing, and logistics by leveraging AI-driven capabilities for autonomous operations, intelligent monitoring, predictive maintenance, adaptive resource management, and real-time decision-making. Despite these opportunities, AI-enabled ubiquitous IoT systems face several critical challenges. These include ensuring secure and reliable communications across heterogeneous and often remote environments, processing and integrating massive volumes of multi-source data, managing constrained power and computational resources on edge and unmanned platforms, and maintaining interoperability with legacy OT infrastructures. In addition, AI-driven IoT systems operating in autonomous and mission-critical environments should address stringent requirements related to safety, trustworthiness, regulatory compliance, privacy preservation, and resilience against cyber-physical attacks. Supporting scalable, low-latency, and adaptive intelligence across highly dynamic environments further complicates system design and deployment. When effectively integrated, AI-enabled ubiquitous IoT systems have the potential to transform future OT ecosystems by enabling intelligent, resilient, and autonomous sensing, communication, and actuation across land, sea, air, and space. Such capabilities will support infrastructure management, improved operational efficiency, enhanced situational awareness, and more secure and sustainable industrial and societal services.
